Pacenote v0.4.0
Pacenote can now gather your own tasks from Slack: what people asked of you, and what you said you would do.
brew update && brew upgrade --cask pacenoteThe upgrade quits the running app first (the bot gets up to 20 seconds to finish its requests, and the rest resume on the next start) and reopens it. Config and run history are untouched.
Your tasks
A new Tasks screen keeps a short list of what you owe people in Slack, so you do not keep it in your head or scroll back for it. It is off by default, and reads Slack with a user token of your own.
- Collect now reads the conversations you are in: the last 7 days the first time, then what is new. Pace keeps on your Mac only the messages that mention you, threads you took part in, and your own "I'll take a look"s, and asks your reasoner once, with no tools, which are tasks.
- Precision first. Something asked of you by name, or something you said you would do, is a task. An
@here, "someone should look at this", or anything unsure is a Maybe, kept under its own tab until you keep it. - Done and Dismiss are one click, and Dismiss can say why. After three "not for me" from one channel, the screen offers to leave it out. A task closes by itself when you reply in its thread or its message gets a check mark.
- Under Done, the screen shows how many of the tasks you settled you dismissed, so you can tell when it picks too loosely.
- Claude Code and Codex can list your open tasks with the new
my_taskstool of Pacenote's MCP server.
To turn it on, add read user scopes to your Pacenote Slack app, reinstall it, and save the User OAuth Token in Settings > Tasks. Your tasks from Slack has the steps, what is read, and where it goes. Tasks work with your own Slack app; the team hub is not supported yet.
